rule engine to trigger actions on predefined events

Triggers and actions: If this than that

To behave smarter, a LPR system must interact with the world of connected devices. It needs to communicate with other systems and respond to specific circumstances.  An ANPR read (a recognized license plate) should be able to trigger personalized actions. Our ANPR camera, the Gatekeeper, offers connectivity and personalized behavior where other ANPR camera’s stop.

Smart license plate recognition applications

The basic idea of triggers and actions is simple: If this happens, then do that. A predefined event triggers specified actions. CortexFramework, our integration platform for AI applications, already offers flexibility and configurability by it’s modular design. Triggers and actions takes customization further. It implements complex and customer specific behavior without extensive integration efforts. The basic functionality of our platform’s modules can be extended, resulting in fine grained applications.

Triggers and actions in the field: an example

Access control seems easy at first sight, but reality confronts us with more complexity and custom requirements. Triggers and actions can implement rules to handle exceptions in order to meet the demand for a smooth user experience.

Imagine a parking facility with limited capacity. During it’s opening hours, between 9:00 and 17:00 hr., the venue is open for twenty pre-registered license plates. When the parking facility is closed, no one can enter, except for the owner and the maintenance service vehicles. A Gatekeeper configured with triggers and actions can do all that!

Besides opening a barrier, a Gatekeeper can trigger lights to switch on. It can also send a notification when a certain license plate has arrived. Now your guest can be welcomed at the reception.

AVUTEC scripting service

Triggers and actions are implemented with a scripting language. A scripting language is defined as a series of commands that automates the execution of tasks. Scripting is implemented in CortexFramework and can be used by integrators. To open the possibilities of triggers and actions for all our partners, we offer a scripting service.

At AVUTEC we want to harness the very best in technology and use it to improve customer experience. With triggers and actions a personalized and connected ANPR application is in easy reach!
